Information on your Hosts & Guide

Patrick C. Williams

Host and Guide

Patrick Williams is a Colorado Native whose knowledge and understanding of the wilderness and its wildlife gives his guests the opportunity to comfortably and safely experience some of the most breathtaking scenery in the west. He knows the habits and behaviors of the game and how to guide his string of horses through their territory whether for hunting or nature watching. His care with the horses is remarkable. Safety is his number one concern. Above all, fishing is what makes Pat say, "I Love my job!" He enthusiastically shares his expertise in catching the big ones and can pan-fry a tasty Brook Trout over an open campfire for supper.

In the off-season, Pat's construction business keeps him busy. Even then, he takes the time to teach horsemanship and packing skills to at-risk youth and juvenile offenders.
Bring an extra flashlight if you plan to stay over-night. You will need it after Pat's campfire Bear tales and famous ghost stories!

Deb Williams

Deb Williams brings her passion for horses and love of the outdoors to assist her husband, Pat, in creating memorable adventures for their guests. She is a certified riding instructor, a licensed health care provider and this outfit's stagecoach driver!
Deb is the founder of The Journey Home Therapeutic Riding Center in Walsenburg, CO. The Center provides service and education-based horsemanship programs to at-risk youth and people with physical or cognitive disabilities.
Deb has a mean ol' sweet tooth, so be assured, there will be plenty of chocolate snacks all the way up the trail.

Delicious Meals

The cook tent and campfire always seem to be the central gathering point at base camp. We meet there for three square meals a day, rain or shine. The woodstove, gas stoves, campfire grill and cast iron skillets and griddles are utilized to prepare meals like steaks, chops, chicken and freshly caught trout. In case of mountain showers, the woodstove inside the tent keeps us warm and dry.

Save room for dessert. Just don't let Pat's horse, Chief, know you have cookies. He will try to take them away from you.

Our Horses

Our team of horses are an integral part of the outfitting business. We want them happy and healthy all year because when they are working, they work hard. Some members of the string have been in the family for 17 years and we have raised some from foals born to our mares. Pat starts the young colts out on the pack string, where they learn the ropes of the trail. Only the seasoned and most experienced saddle horses are used for our customers to insure an enjoyable and safe ride.
We aim for the perfect match between novice rider and the gentlest mount; to the experienced rider with a more spirited horse.
After a well deserved vacation in the off-season, our string is donated to The Journey Home Therapeutic Riding Center where they receive a lot of hands-on attention and serve as a tremendous tool in helping kids to heal their lives. Horsemanship teaches patience, trust, persistence, responsibility, care-giving, respect and . . . it's fun!
